Friday, 21st July 2023 - PT Elnusa Fabrikasi Konstruksi (EFK), a subsidiary of PT Elnusa Tbk, has started carrying out mangrove planting as a concrete expression of carbon ecosystem rehabilitation in Indonesia to conserve the natural environment. A total of 41 mangrove tree seedlings were planted in the Angke Kapuk Natural Tourism Park area, Jakarta, Saturday (15/7).
Mangrove planting is part of a program called Bersama (Bersama Sebar Manfaat) for Indonesia, particularly Green Care, which EFK carries out. This program takes place in conjunction with World Mangrove Day, which will be celebrated on July 26. Perwira EFK took part in volunteering for the debriefing activity in a bid to decrease the amount of carbon emissions.
The decision to choose a mangrove ecosystem based on the active ability of mangroves to absorb carbon has an exceptional potential for achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2030.
This endeavor represents EFK's concern for environmental problems that exist in Indonesia. EFK is aware that a clean environment can help it to improve its operational performance.
Planting 41 mangrove seeds marks EFK's 41st year of activity in Indonesia's energy services sector.
Aswin Archy Saputra, EFK'S communications and community relations analyst, expressed his belief that EFK's contribution will have an advantageous impact on the environment and society.
"This conservation action is anticipated to restore mangrove ecosystems to ensure its purposes and functions, which include reducing carbon emissions, decreasing water pollutants, and mitigating abrasion, may be carried out effectively. Furthermore, I hope this program can be sustainable so that the benefits generated will have a bigger impact on Indonesia," said Aswin.
To establish a secure environment and a prosperous society, it needs to be the responsibility of every one of us to protect the environment. Through this, EFK will continue to play an active role in upholding a commitment to an environmentally friendly work environment in achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2030.
